One of the hardest parts of having social anxiety disorder (SAD) is not being able to tell people, even those closest to you, what is wrong. Unlike someone suffering from a physical illness, or even another mental disorder such as ADHD or depression, the nature of SAD makes it extremely difficult to tell others how you feel. Is this true for you? This week's poll asks how many people know about your social anxiety.

I have told my mum and sister, as well as a few people I know on the internet. Most people don’t really understand what it is so I don’t tell them.
Only person I know who knows of SAD is my wife, and that’s because of me.
At work I have taken a subtle approach. I am dedicated to a self-help book, I leave it on my desk and read it faithfully at lunch. It (the book)has been moved (picked-up) at least once, and was commented on (by co-worker) once, but the commenter had no idea what SAD is, and apparently didn’t care because he interrupted my describing it to him.
Recently diagnosed (self-diagnostic) I am becoming aware of the extent SAD has captivated me, and still working on re-acquainting myself with communication skills, and other skills that have been switched-off over the years of outward silence.
I am breaking out of this shell and replacing the negative thoughts with Positive Attitude.
Enjoy the Holidays, and thank you for being here for us.
