Kansas City Royals pitcher Zack Greinke has earned the coveted spot on the cover of this week's edition of Sports Illustrated. Not only that, in the article describing his recent meteoric rise to success in the major league, Greinke is described as the "best pitcher in baseball". For Greinke, it has been a long road back from a battle with depression and social anxiety disorder (SAD) in early 2006.
At the time of his departure from the major league, Greinke wasn't sure that he would ever return. However, after spending several months away from the game, and receiving treatment for his depression and anxiety, it seems Greinke is back with a vengeance and performing better than ever. This is an inspirational story to those suffering with SAD who think the future looks bleak. With time, patience, and the right form of treatment, anything truly is possible.

As a family member of a young man who suffers from SAD, I can’t tell you what an inspiration Zack Greinke is. It can be such a isolating disorder, but seeing that others have been able to manage it gives a much needed boost to the sufferer (not to mention family who love them).
Thanks so much for bringing this issue to light!
