There are several active discussion forums for those interested in talking about SAD, including the one here at About.com. The other major discussion forums include:
Social Anxiety Support: A set of message boards and literature about SAD.
Social Phobia World: Popular SAD message board with over 10,000 members.
SA-UK: Message board for those dealing with SAD in the United Kingdom.
Online discussion forums can be a great place to talk with other people experiencing the same problems. They are particularly helpful for those with SAD; allowing for honest and open discussion among people who might not otherwise ever have the chance (or the courage) to speak.
When thinking about message boards and SAD a number of questions popped into my head. I thought I would put them out to you, the readers.
- Which forums do you visit?
- Have forums helped you?
- Have you made friends in online discussion forums?
- Do you feel at home on these message boards, or does social anxiety still hold you back?
- Have you ever had a bad experience on a forum?
