I think it’s incredibly hard for most people with SAD to feel motivated enough, that they’ll leave their ’social comfort zone’. Just overcoming SA for the sake of not having anxiety anymore? It doesn’t seem to be a big enough motivator for a lot of people.
In my experience, the first step is to spend a lot of time deciding what you want from life in the next several years. Upon understanding what you want, you can then put together a plan of potential steps that can get you there. Some of these potential steps are bound to include mixing with people, so you can try to do those steps, motivated by the fact that what you’re doing leads to what you most want.
I think it all starts with finding something you really desire from life, and wanting it so badly that you’re willing to sacrifice your comfort zone to get it.
Having said that, it can take a long time to find out what you truly want.
