Question: What are the Common Treatments for Social Anxiety Disorder
Answer: The most common forms of treatment for social anxiety disorder (SAD) are therapy and medication. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) has proven to be one of the most effective short-term forms of therapy for treating the disorder. This form of therapy is a collection of techniques designed to change distorted thinking patterns. Often, CBT will be combined with medication for optimal treatment progress. The most commonly prescribed types of medication for SAD are the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) including paxil (paroxetine), zoloft (sertraline), and luvox (fluvoxamine).
