Prozac

Definition:

Prozac (fluoxetine hydrochloride) is a medication used in treating depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. A selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), Prozac slows reabsorption of the chemical serotonin in the brain. Manufactured by Eli Lilly, Prozac has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Adminstration (FDA) for the treatment of social anxiety disorder (SAD), however research evidence suggests that the medication is more effective than placebo in treating SAD.
