Definition: Partial avoidance behaviors, in the context of social anxiety disorder (SAD), are actions taken to manage anxiety and limit or control the experience of social or performance situations.
Also Known As: safety behaviors
Examples:
Someone who avoids making eye contact while giving a speech is exhibiting a partial avoidance behavior.
