Definition: Safety behaviors, in the context of social anxiety disorder (SAD), are actions taken to manage anxiety and limit or control the experience of social or performance situations.
Also Known As: partial avoidance behaviors
Examples:
Someone who reads a speech word for word is exhibiting a safety behavior.
